You’re welcome to this page! This article explains why some dreams don’t come true.
Make sure you read the article to the end as there are reality stories we compiled during our interviews in California and Texas.
We’ve all had the experience. The sweet, lingering sweetness of a dream, followed by the reality of waking life, followed by the longing to go back to that dream. And then, before you know it, the dream is gone.
As Christians, we often dream of what God can do in our lives for His glory.
Some of these dreams take root in us and fill our hearts with hope. We begin to rely on them.
But what happens when those good dreams don’t come true? Why does God allow us to dream of good things that don’t come to pass?
The answer is as wondrous as it is painful: So, he can shatter our little ideas of what’s possible and show us what’s better.
Why Some Dreams Don’t Come True?
1. Rescued from Our Plans
Reality Story I: Mr. Kelvin James
Let me give you an example of a story from Mr. Kelvin James… He said “I wanted to be in the military, and I wanted to travel abroad (Norway was top of my list) but then I got diagnosed with epilepsy.
My life crumbled. I can’t drive, I can’t join the army, I can’t travel abroad.
The world has turned upside down and, in the end, I had to find a way to keep myself occupied.
Life sucks. People judge me. The only thing I have going for me is my snowboard. We don’t have much snow here in the UK but that’s what dry slopes are all about.
I can’t tell anyone on the slope I have epilepsy or else they’ll kick me off. The point is that this dream never happens.
Two years later, I went for a checkup, after my deliverance in one of the Pentecostal churches, I was completely healed…
in summary, today, I’m a qualified medical doctor.
The point is, isn’t what you want for yourself, but, what God wants for you”

We are God’s work, we are his concern, we are His work. He sends us trials to mold us into his image.
We fear the success of our kingdom while God places the success of the kingdom on us. We dream of saving the world but God is still thinking of saving us.
May we for once allow him to be God? May his providence guide us in the paths he has set for us. We cannot resist him. Why should we? He is beautiful and full of mercy towards us.
If God allowed us to fulfill our little dreams, then our lives would be like the dark island of Narnia, you may know it as The Island Where dreams come true.
We would rush to it in our haste with no thought of escape. We would not know that the island of dreams becomes the place of nightmares.
God has saved us from countless terrible things. How infinitely gracious is his plan for us?
Even if we don’t realize it, when God rescues us from our bad dreams, we’re like those Narnians who finally escape from that cursed island.
“Just like there are times when I lie in bed, and I see the light streaming through my window, and I realize it was all a dream, and it was so good that it was almost worth it to have the nightmare so I could have the pleasure of waking up,” so they all feel when they come out of the darkness, where their dreams come true.
He will have his freedom, the Great Storyteller. His character-building is amazing.
We are his masterpiece. He knows what He wants with us, and what kind of joy He wants with us.
Can we not have faith? Can we not give up all the good plans in our hearts to Him, knowing that His plans are better?
Accept your situation where you find yourself, and see what He does there. For we are not conquerors in all things, neither out of them.

2. A Good Dream Dies
Reality Story II: Mrs. Jennifer William
The truth is that some things are just meant for you, and others are just meant for something else.
I enrolled in Accounting as a Bachelor of Science, even though I knew I wasn’t very good at math.
I was good at solving problems, but it took me a long time to master them. There were so many assignments, I didn’t sleep at night to complete them.
I practiced math when I had time, I asked my friends to help me solve problems, and I asked for strategies.
I worked hard to master math.
After two years, I had to change my major because it wasn’t healthy, and I was disqualified.
I cried so much because I knew all the hard work, I had put into it, and it should have worked out well, but it didn’t.
Later I came to understand that, I’m meant for something else… after 9 months, this begins to shape for the better. I own one of the best pharmacists in California and 4 supermarkets in Texas.
No matter what you’re doing right, do not be discouraged, God has a bigger plan(s) for you. Just keep on working according to his will.
I had faith that we would soon experience growth, even though the odds were against us. The gifts and mission were clear, the people were receptive and trusting, and we were praying and evangelizing.
Every month, I believed that we would continue to grow. However, as the months turned into years, I began to wake up from a dream that I had been having for a long time.
We were a small, struggling church, a tiny congregation, and we could have been that forever if we had not endured.
The book of Genesis 33:14 says, “Let my lord, I pray thee, pass over before his servant: and I will lead on softly, according as the cattle that goeth before me and the children be able to endure, until I come unto my lord unto Seir.”
It is hard to describe the suffering that slowly began to overtake me. It was like a slow-motion Chinese water torture, with failure after failure weighing down my sensitive soul, followed by bruising in the barren places of the “pulpit”. It was a form of soul torment that could only be described as a form of humiliation.
The struggles of my soul were held in a hidden place, hidden from the world and hidden from my people, though sometimes they could see my desperation. I was left in the dust before the eyes of only one: myself.

In that dark place, God revealed to me what I am made of. I am nothing; I can do nothing. I know what Paul says, but now I am tasting and seeing and crying with him, who is enough for these things?
3. There May Yet Be Hope
Has it ever crossed your mind that all of this is God’s answer to all of my prayers for being useful?
I have struggled with this question for a long time. I have asked God to help me not to run my life in vain, not to waste my life. Is it possible that all of this chaos is the answer to all my prayers?
Like all true stories, it has all of the parts that are not shown in the movies and all the parts that are shown in the Bible. The waiting, the desire, the quiet suffering, the joy of giving up.
It was good for me: The book of Lamentations chapter 3:27–29 says
’It is good for a man that he bears the yoke in his youth. Let him sit alone in silence when it is laid on him; let him put his mouth in the dust — there may yet be hope’
The most important thing is to be patient and be content with a God who loves you unconditionally. Things will surely get better for you.
Learn how to serve God no matter where you are… you’re always in God’s plan. Things might be slowly but surely; things will get better.
The dream of God for your life must surely come to pass! And not your own dreams!
That’s why it’s important to always pray in God’s will.
Jesus teaches us how to pray… take a look at the lord’s prayer:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; Thy Will Be Done; on earth as it is in heaven…
God’s purpose for your life is your destiny… no matter how hard you try to bring your own purpose to reality; you will always meet yourself in a state of disappointment.
I think one of the biggest questions we ask ourselves is not, “What is my dream?” but, “What is God’s dream for me?” Do you feel like you know and are living out God’s dream for you? I hope so, but not everyone does.
We live in a chaotic and disorganized world, and sometimes it’s hard to see how God’s dream is working in our lives.
No matter what your situation is, in the chaos, fear, anxiety, and distraction of this world, we can all benefit from a stronger faith in God’s dream for us.
How can we gain this confidence? Of course, it’s not something we can create ourselves.
It’s not something that comes from human optimism or positive thinking.
It’s something that comes from the Holy Spirit, and it’s mainly (but not exclusively) from the Bible. He uses the Bible to open up our minds and put faith in our hearts.
Let’s start by saying that God is all about dreams. Not just general dreams, but specific dreams. He’s the most powerful, long-term, strategic planner in our lives.
He doesn’t just do things randomly. His dream for our lives goes far beyond the past and into the future. He cares about not just the fate of His creations, but our own personal lives too.
